When Donald A. Gardner moved from New York to South Carolina to attend Clemson University in 1963, he brought with him an inherited eye for artistic detail and a passion for architectural design. After graduating from Clemson with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and serving two years in the Army Corps of Engineers, Don returned to Upstate South Carolina to pursue his career. After becoming a registered architect, Don created exceptional blueprints and designs for several architectural firms throughout the next fourteen years, gaining experience in commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential designs.
Recognizing his talents and interests lay in crafting home plans, Donald A. Gardner saw a need for better designed, more livable house plans that would meet families' changing needs and busier lifestyles. With this dream his primary focus, Don founded Donald A. Gardner Architects, Inc., in 1978. By 1984, the architect was able to commit his attention full time to Donald A. Gardner Architects, Inc., and to the evolution of more viable floor plans and house designs.
Through his experience and insight, Don has grown his architectural firm into a full-service design firm and established four additional successful companies that have provided career opportunities for many in the Greenville community. Under his leadership, Donald A. Gardner Architects, Inc., has brought national recognition to South Carolina as well as local suppliers, individuals, and businesses through articles in the firms national plan magazine, Designs™, and through national consumer publications. During the early years, the architect cultivated business relationships that have forged strong industry friendships where other leaders in the industry seek his council and expertise. The talent and business savvy of Donald A. Gardner have made his family-owned architectural and construction firm consistent winners with consumers, publishers, and the architectural and building industries. Today, Donald A. Gardner house plans, floor plans, and home designs are known and respected in eighteen different countries.
